RESUMO
O
presente artigo visa apresentar as principais características da tecnologia
lítica associada aos sítios arqueológicos da tradição
Tupiguarani.
Analisamos a literatura arqueológica objetivando identificar tanto aspectos que
são considerados gerais do labor Tupiguarani sobre rochas e minerais; quanto
compreender suas especificidades regionais. Assim, podemos observar que ao
contrário do que sugeriam as primeiras pesquisas sobre o tema, os ceramistas
Tupiguarani não eram “lascadores medíocres”, e tinham amplo conhecimento
técnico e destreza na confecção de artefatos líticos; como evidencia o amplo e
diversificado acervo encontrado em diferentes regiões do país.

ABSTRACT
This article presents
the main features of lithic technology associated with the archaeological sites
of Tupiguarani tradition. We have analyzed the archaeological literature aiming
to identify both aspects that are considered general of Tupiguarani work on
rocks and minerals; as understand their regional specificities. Thus, we can
see that contrary to what suggested the first research on the topic, the
Tupiguarani potters were not "poor chipper" and had extensive
technical knowledge and skill in the production of lithic artifacts; as
evidenced by the large and diverse collection found in different regions of the
country.
