RESUMO
O propósito deste
trabalho é fazer um relato sucinto de pesquisa no projeto “Missões Religiosas
na Paraíba colonial: Atividades historiográficas e prospecções arqueológicas
dos antigos redutos missioneiros”. Na sequência do trabalho me proponho a
retomar as questões que motivaram a realização do projeto, as hipóteses iniciais
(e se elas confirmam ou não), as inquietações que me surgiram no andamento do
mesmo, bem como as dificuldades de empreender uma pesquisa nessa temática
devido a escassez de material. Buscamos, enfim, contribuir com a (re) leitura
da historiografia da Paraíba no tocante a importância desses redutos para o
processo de consolidação lusa do território paraibano.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this work is to make a short report on the research
project “Religious Missions on Colonial Paraíba: Historiographic activities and
archaeological prospections of the ancient missioner strongholds”. On the
following, I propose to re-catch the motivation of the Project, the initial
hypothesis (and weather they are confirmed or not), the questions that were
raised during the Project as well as the difficulties of performing research on
this field due to lack of material. Finally, we seek to contribute with the (re)
Reading of Paraíba’s historiography with respect to the importance of these
strongholds for the process of Luso-consolidation of Paraíba’s territory.
