RESUMO
O
presente trabalho tem como principais objetivos o de mostrar os resultados
obtidos em uma escavação arqueológica de uma necrópole indígena Cariri (Pinturas
I), localizada na parte interna de um abrigo natural rochoso nos Sertões da
Paraíba, bem como verificar os atos de vandalismos ali detectados. Nos Sertões
paraibanos (interior), as cavidades naturais (abrigos-sob-rochas e lapas),
especialmente de formação granítica, foram utilizados largamente na
Pré-História com essa finalidade, sendo, portanto, de suma importância sua
preservação para estudos presentes e futuros nos campos da Arqueologia e da
Espeleologia, com o intuito de entendermos o modus vivendi dos grupos humanos ocupantes dos Sertões da Paraíba.

ABSTRACT
This work has as main
objective to show the results obtained in an archaeological excavation of a
Carirí necropolis (Paintings I),located inside a natural rocky shelter in the
hinterlands of Paraíbaand check the acts of vandalism detected in this site. In
the hinterlands of Paraíba natural cavities (shelter beneath rocks) specially
made of granite wereextensivelyusedin Prehistory for this purpose, being
therefore, of great importance for its preservation forpresent and future
studies in the fields of Archaeology and Speleology, in order to understand the
modus vivendi of human groups occupying the hinterlands of Paraíba.
