RESUMO
A Pedra do Ingá é um monumento arqueológico marcado pelo estigma do fantástico e nesse trabalho pretendemos mostrar quais os principais princípios teóricos que alegam idéias difusionistas para este conjunto petróglifo, em refuto as opiniões de que tratar-se-ia de indústria nativa. As teorias fantásticas sobre este notável testemunho arqueológico partem do pressuposto de que nenhuma civilização é avançada se não demonstrar desenvolvimento material e, por isso os, povos ameríndios seriam incapazes de entalhar tão magnífico complexo de signos em superfície tão compacta sem auxílio tecnológico sofisticado e inteligência superior. Todavia, ao passo que estas teorias conquistam o gosto popular e se cristalizam a Ciência cada vez mais vai se tornando evasiva sobre este sítio arqueológico tão sedutor e, por conseguinte, comprometedor. Portanto, para que possamos iniciar um estudo sensato sobre a Pedra do Ingá, nas perspectivas científicas, é preciso primeiro despi-la destes adornos lendários.

ABSTRACT
The Ingá Stone is an Archaeological monument marked by the stigma of the fantastic and in this paper we intend to show what is the main theoretical principles that claim to diffusionists ideas for this petroglyph set, in refute to the opinions that it would treat of the native industry. The fantastic theories about this remarkable archaeological evidence comes from the assumption that no civilization is advanced if it does not manifest material development and for this reason Amerindian people would be unable to carve such a magnificent complex of signs in such a compact surface without sophisticated technological aid and superior intelligence. However, while these theories gain popular adhesion and gets crystallized the science increasingly becomes evasive on this archaeological site so seductive and therefore compromising. So for us to begin a sensible study about the Ingá stone, on the scientific perspective, it is first necessary to put off its legendary ornaments.
