RESUMO
Este trabalho propõe realizar uma historicização sobre a Sociedade Beneficente dos Artistas de Campina Grande, entendendo-o enquanto patrimônio histórico vitimado e espaço de memória. Para tanto, incorre-nos compreender as seguintes problemáticas: Que atividades e quais grupos atuavam em suas dependências? Qual a representatividade na sociedade campinense? A quem interessava a integridade desse bem cultural que não mais existe? Por que sua demolição, aparentemente, não motivou nenhuma contestação popular? Como o Poder Público local reagiu a esse ato? Entendemos que a importância desses questionamentos ajudarão na discussão a propósito da importância cultural daquela instituição como um espaço de memória individual/coletiva, uma vez que se marcava como importante ambiente da sociabilidade campinense.

ABSTRACT
This paper proposes to conduct a historicizing about the Beneficent Artists´Society from Campina Grande, understanding it as a victimized heritage and memory space. Tod do so incurs us to understand the following issues: What activities and wich groups were working on its dependencies? What the representativeness of the campinense society? Who was interested in the integrity of that heritage that does not exist anymore? Why the demolition of the heritage does not motivate any popular opposition? How did the local government react toward this act? We understand that the importance of these questions will help in the discussion about the cultural importance of that instituition as an individual memory space or as a collective memory space, it once was marked as an important place for the campinense society.
