RESUMO
Este
trabalho pretende fazer uma análise sobre extinção da megafauna nos sertões do
Nordeste e os prováveis motivos dessa extinção em massa: teriam desaparecido
com o fim das grandes áreas de pastagens essenciais para manter o metabolismo
desses animais gigantes? Foram os caçadores pré-históricos os grande
responsáveis pela extinção? Estas são indagações que ainda hoje ecoam nos meios
científios.

ABSTRACT
This paper intends to
perform an analysis of extinction of megafauna in the backlands of the
northeast and the probable reasons for this mass extinction: would they have
disappeared with the end of large grazing areas essential to maintain the
metabolism of these giant animals? Were prehistoric hunters responsible for the
great extinction? These are questions that still echo in scientific circles.
